Getting ready for the holiday weekend

Hey!  Having a busy morning.  Having folks over for a cookout tomorrow.  Doing some house cleaning, then heading for the grocery store.
I got over my blahs yesterday.  Took Dix for a walk and that helped.  (Good idea, Fay)  Later in the afternoon, we took both Dix and Jess to the vet's for checkups.  Both girls have gained 4 pounds!  We think it's the dog food.  We only recently switched from Science Diet lite to Science Diet Senior.  We can't think of any other reason.  We had even cut down on the amount of food for Dix and Jess.  Jessie, especially, does not need the extra weight.  She's too small to weigh that much.
Okay, I must run.  Have a good Friday.  Over and Out!~

A case of the blahs!

Just not myself this morning.  I don't know why.  I almost feel a tad depressed.  Tomorrow is my mom's birthday but I don't think that's the reason.  Anyway, I'll work through it.  All will be well soon enough.
Last evening, right at dusk, we killed a big black snake in our yard.  We didn't want to.  He had shown up on our deck earlier.  A long feller, at least 6 feet.  We shooed him away, then realized his reason for being there.  Under the deck are bird nests.  This guy was looking for a meal.  I could not stand it, not after the fawn incident on Sunday.  I told Richard that I would not sleep, knowing he was going to feast on baby birds right here at the house.  He had to go.  We tried to get him to move on, but he was determined.  So, Richard shot him in the head.  Fini!  Later, I slept like a baby.
Have a good day.  Catch you later.  Over and Out!

Going to visit Gracie

I'm heading to High Point to visit my MIL, Gracie, and have lunch.  It's going to be another 90 degree day.  Yesterday, I walked Dixie early.  We saw the dog that had attacked the fawn in our driveway.  She was with another canine.  I honestly believe they were hunting baby deer.  Those two are outside dogs, allowed to run free at any time.  IT will do no good to talk to the owner.  I am sick about it.
Okay, must run.  Have a good day.  Over and Out!

Can't think of a title

Good morning.  Hoping to get some good editing in today.  Yesterday was not so great.  I kept thinking about the fawn and wondering if she made it through the night, if her mother found her and cleaned off the scent of blood, etc..., etc... We didn't see the dog return, although I'm sure he did.
Today, I may pause to walk Dixie before it gets too hot.  In the afternoon, I plan to start reading a new book.  I have a lot to choose from.  I'll find something I like.
So have a good day.  Stay cool.  Catch you later.  Over and Out!

A fawn in the driveway

I had a good day yesterday.  Walked Dix, took a trip to the grocery store, made a new pasta recipe, read my book.  Then around 7:00 or so, we were watching TV and Richard saw something run from the woods.  He saw it through the glass door to the screened porch.  I got up and opened the door.  We immediately heard loud screams.  I bolted outside.  A neighbor's dog had a newborn deer in our driveway.  Where that little thing came from, we have no idea.  I started shouting and the dog ran away.  This little gal could not have been more than 24 hours old.  She was so little, probably no more than 18 pounds.  The dog had bitten her ear and sliced her under her right inside thigh.  We did not know what to do.  I told Richard to call the vets.  He did.  After forever, they came back and gave him some numbers, but by then, she had calmed down and I could see that the cut wasn't bad.  If her mom was around and came and got her, she could clean the wound, remove the scent of blood.  The Internet says to leave them alone, even if they appear wounded and lost.  So we did.  I turned her loose, it took her a while to even stand, she's so new.  I backed away and stood still.  She stood, got her balance and then walked right over to me and almost touched my knee.  Oh, man.  Then, she began walking/falling to the woods.  We watched and she disappeared into them. I hope we did the right thing. I did not sleep good last night.
We think the dog was chasing the mom and the baby cried out or something.  Richard said the dog was running into the woods but suddenly did a U-turn and ran back the other way, toward the driveway.  I hope she makes it.  I was so worried that handling her would seal her doom, but the Net says no. I hope mom found her.  The dog will be back.
I hope you have a good day.  I'll be editing this morning.  Take care.  Over and Out!

Planning on a nice Sunday

Good morning!  I'm planning on a nice, quiet day.  I want to walk Dixie in a few minutes, before it gets hot.  Right now, it's a pleasant 73 degrees.  Later, I do need to take a trip to the grocery store.  This afternoon, I want to read.
Last evening was so much fun.  We attended our first mystery dinner.  I thought I was so sharp.  I love to read murder mysteries and watch them on TV.  Heck, I'm writing my own with UnSeen.  But that didn't help me much last night.  Two murders occurred.  I guessed one of the murderers correctly.  But I was only guessing.  Could have been the wine, but I felt out of the loop, missing all kinds of clues.  I had a great time just the same.  We hope there will be another one in the fall.  If so, we'll be there, and this time, I'll know more of what to expect.
All right.  Have a wonderful day.  See you later.  Over and Out!

Murder mystery dinner

Good Saturday morning to you.  Hope yours is a good one.
Tonight we are attending our fist murder mystery dinner.  It's being held at Yancey House Restaurant, in their outdoor pavilion.  I am so looking forward to going.  I'll let you know about it tomorrow.
It's going to be another hot day.  Should hit 90 again.  The dinner starts at 7:00 pm.  I'll be wearing light clothing and cologne of bug spray.
Well, off to do some housework.  Take care.  Over and Out!

On the road

I'll be visiting Dad today.  He has an appointment to meet the doctor who will do the laser surgery to remove his cataract.  Then we'll go for lunch and finish up with coffee at his apartment.
Yesterday was nice.  Jessie came to stay for a while.
I hope you have a great Friday.  Stay cool.  It's still hot, hot, hot here.  Up in the 90's again today.
See you later.  Over and Out!

It's a catch up day

I'm using today to catch up on some stuff.  I need to work with my computer a bit, and with Richard's new laptop.  Joy is bringing her granddaughter, Bailee, who just graduated third grade, by this morning.  Bailee and Richard are going fishing on the lake before it gets too hot.  It's supposed to get up to 92.  Joy is also bringing Jessie for a visit.  I'll be walking Jess and Dixie early as well.  This afternoon, I plan to be in the sun room reading.  Sounds like a good day.  Take care.  Over and Out!

What's with my hair?

What is going on with my hair.  Mercy!  It looked fine in the mirror before I came up here to my office.  Man!  Oh well, I hope you have a good Wednesday.  I'll be editing, exercising to a new dance video (wish me luck on that one), and reading.  In that order.
Yesterday was nice.  After working all morning, I headed up to Joy's for a visit and a cup of coffee.  The dogs and granddaughter, Bailee, were there.  Most enjoyable.  Bailee is planning to come here in the morning for fishing with Richard.  I may ask that Jessie come too.  We take she and Dixie for checkups at the Vet's next week.  I'll am curious to know how much Jess weighs now.  She's supposed to be around 38 pounds, but I doubt that's true anymore.  I know they are doing their best to follow our requests concerning feeding her, but someone is sipping that girl something extra.  I'm betting Jessie has gained at least 2 pounds.  It's important to Richard and me that she stay a healthy weight.  So after she goes to the Vet's, we'll most likely be having another pow-wow with Don and Joy.  In case you don't understand, we still own Jessie, along with her new masters.  We pay all her expenses; Don and Joy give Jess a happy home and tons, and I do mean tons, of love.  So we still have a say in what goes on.  Did I clear that up.
All right, enough!  I must get to work.  Later.  Over and Out!
